このたび亀戸アートセンターでは、管弘志による個展「空きれい」を開催いたします。

管弘志は、雑誌などを中心に様々なイラストを手がけるイラストレーターです。ボールペンやアクリル絵具をはじめとした多様な画材や道具を用い、アナログならではの手法で、デジタルのようにも見える不思議で曖昧な異空間を描き出しています。

本展タイトル「空きれい」は、作品の内容を直接的に示すものではありませんが、日常に潜む視点の転換や、些細な“ズレ”の面白さを手がかりに名づけられました。たとえば、猫同士が激しいケンカをしている延々と繰り広げられるドタバタ。そのドタバタを少しずつズームアウトさせていく。そして映り込んだ空がやけにきれいだった、そんな感覚に近いものです。

管は主に、描きためた落書きをもとに作品を制作しますが、その過程では意図せず生まれた“汚れ”や“ノイズ”といった一見失敗のように見える痕跡さえも、本制作の段階で改めて描き込み、絵の構図に取り込んでいきます。偶発性と計画性を行き来しながら、予定調和を避け、自らを裏切るように描く。その態度は、数人の自分が寄せ書きをするように多層的な視線を行き交わせる絵画として表出しています。

「ちゃんと描こう」「適当に描いちゃおう」「辿々しく」「面倒くさいから途中でやめちゃおう」と相反する意志が同居する画面は、鑑賞者に一方的な印象を与えることなく、違和感や疑問、そして余白を残します。描き損じのようでいて、むしろそこに宿る繊細な構成意識こそが管の絵の本質といえます。

本展は新作を中心に、40点以上の平面・立体作品で構成されます。

という絵を使った遊び。

みてる人にこう思ってもらえたらとかはあまりないですが、裏切りや違和感、疑問を共有できたらなと思っています。

Kameido Art Center is pleased to present “Sky Beautiful,” a solo exhibition by Hiroshi Kan.

Hiroshi Kan is an illustrator who has created a wide range of illustrations for magazines and other media. He uses a variety of drawing materials and tools, including ballpoint pens and acrylic paints, to create strange and ambiguous spaces that appear digital in nature, using techniques unique to analog.

The title of this exhibition, “Sky Beautiful,” does not directly refer to the content of the works, but was named after the interesting shifts in perspective and minor “gaps” in everyday life. For example, the endless slapstick of cats fighting fiercely with each other. The slapstick is gradually zoomed out. The sky reflected in the image is very beautiful, it's almost like that feeling.

Kan creates his works mainly from doodles that he has been accumulating, and even seemingly unsuccessful traces such as “dirt” and “noise” that were unintentionally created during the process are intentionally incorporated into the composition of his paintings during the final production stage.

He paints in a way that betrays himself, moving back and forth between contingency and planning, avoiding scheduled harmony. This attitude is expressed as a painting in which several of the artist's selves are merged together, creating a multi-layered gaze back and forth.

The contradictory wills that coexist on the screen, such as “let's draw it right,” “let's just go easy on it,” “let's be precise,” and “let's stop halfway through because it's too much trouble,” leave the viewer with a sense of discomfort, doubt, and blank space, without giving the viewer a one-sided impression. The delicate sense of composition that resides in what appears to be an incomplete drawing can be said to be the essence of Kan's paintings.

This exhibition will consist of more than 40 two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, mainly new works.

雑誌などを中心にイラストレーターとして活動する一方、近年は個展やグループ展に参加、展示で主に作品を発表している。

絶対的な平面性、違和感、裏切り、何の意味も持たない物語。

自分で不安になるくらいの平面構成を目指します。
