亀戸アートセンターでは、加藤崇亮 個展「Dozing off」を開催します。
加藤はこれまで、海外の古いポストカードなどから引用した風景や人物、異なるイメージを組み合わせながら、時間や記憶、映像的な感覚を手がかりに絵画を制作してきました。
近年は、版ズレやコラージュといった手法から少しずつ距離を置き、より直接的に絵を描くことへと関心を移しています。
本展では「Dozing off」をタイトルに、これまで継続してきた時間や記憶への関心から、さらに意識と無意識、現実とイメージのあいだへと目を向けた新作を発表します。

【作家ステートメント】
Dozing off
どこからかフルーツの甘い香りがする。
音楽をかけながら居眠りをした時、長い時間に感じたものの音楽が少ししか進んでいないことがあった。
居眠りには時間感覚を圧縮/拡張させる効果がある。
意識/無意識を行き来できる効果が居眠りにはある。
またイメージも居眠りをしている。現実では出会いづらいイメージは居眠り状態なのかもしれない。
そのイメージを追いかけようとすると、今度は自分が現実では居眠りしているような状態になってしまう。
Kameido Art Center is pleased to present Dozing off, a solo exhibition by Takaaki Kato.
Kato has created paintings that explore time, memory, and cinematic perception, combining landscapes, figures, and other imagery drawn from old postcards from overseas. In recent years, he has gradually moved away from techniques such as misregistration and collage, shifting his focus toward a more direct approach to painting.
Titled Dozing off, this exhibition presents new works that build on Kato’s ongoing interest in time and memory, while turning his attention toward the spaces between consciousness and unconsciousness, reality and image.

【Artist Statement】
Dozing off
A sweet, fruity scent drifts in from somewhere.
Once, I dozed off while listening to music. It felt as though a long time had passed, but when I woke up, the music had barely progressed.
Dozing off seems to have the effect of compressing and expanding our sense of time. It also allows us to move back and forth between consciousness and unconsciousness.
Images, too, may be dozing off. Perhaps images that are difficult to encounter in reality exist in a kind of drowsy state.
When I try to follow those images, I find myself slipping into a state that feels as though I, too, am dozing off in reality.

加藤崇亮 / Kato Takaaki
1985年東京生まれ。幼少期をドイツ・デュッセルドルフで過ごす。
麻布学園、多摩美術大学造形表現学部デザイン科卒業。
2012年よりエンライトメントに参加、2020年よりチカビに参加し、独立。
映像的絵画を目指し、時間・映写・記憶をテーマにした絵画を制作している。
Takaaki Kato
Born in Tokyo in 1985. Spent his childhood in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Graduated from Azabu Gakuen and the Department of Design, Faculty of Art and Design, Tama Art University.
Joined Enlightenment in 2012, and later Chikabi in 2020 before becoming independent.
His practice explores the idea of “cinematic painting,” creating works centered on themes of time, projection, and memory.

今回は3色を重ねたシルクスクリーンプリント。色の重なりによる独特の色味と、シルクスクリーンならではの質感を楽しめる仕上がりです。
