この度、亀戸アートセンターでは 重野克明 個展「お前も雛人形にしてやろうか」を開催いたします。
重野克明は、人物や動きのある情景を主題に、絵画、版画、陶芸など多様な手法で制作を行ってきた作家です。
重野は幼少期より人物を描くことに親しみ、周囲から「絵が上手な子」と認識される一方で、描く絵が「暗い」と評されることも少なくありませんでした。しかしそれは感情の暗さというよりも、陰影や立体感、遠近といった要素への早い段階からの関心によるものでした。
美大受験のために通っていた予備校時代に版画への興味を深め、東京藝術大学入学後は、絵筆や色彩よりも「線」や「構造」への関心を軸に、版画による表現へと取り組んでいきます。作家としてのキャリアを重ねる中で、現在は油画、水彩画、銅版画、陶芸などを横断しながら「まず手を動かすこと」から始まる制作を続けています。作品に登場する人物は、特定の誰かを写したものではなく、記憶や想像の曖昧さを含んだ存在として描かれ、真剣に描くことで生じるズレや違和感がそのまま画面に残り、結果として独特のユーモアや可笑しみを帯びた表情を生み出しています。
本展「お前も雛人形にしてやろうか」は、会期と時期が重なり、また重野の誕生日が3月4日という本人が意識せざるを得ない日本の年中行事「雛祭り」を展覧会全体のゆるやかなアウトラインとして捉えた展示です。メインビジュアルとなる雛壇の油画には、これまでの作品に登場してきた人物たちが、雛人形のように並びます。それらは特定の人物でありながら、鑑賞者自身を重ね合わせることのできる、不特定多数の存在でもあります。
タイトルが示す通り、本展は鑑賞者を作品世界へと引き込み、見る側もまた「雛人形の一人」として加わるような感覚を誘います。油画、版画、陶芸作品など多様な作品群を通して、明るさと陰影、真面目さと可笑しみが交錯する重野克明の世界を会場にてご体感ください。
・作家ステートメント
2025年晩秋私は埼玉県岩槻市を訪れた。ふと地元の人形館が目に入り立ち寄ってみると数多の雛人形が‼︎室町時代の古めかしい物から現代のまで展示されていた。そうここは人形の街だったのだ。ひな祭りも近い。ひな祭りの次の日３月４日は私のバースデイ‼︎亀戸での展覧会のテーマはひな祭りにしよう。私は雛人形を一心不乱にスケッチしたのである。やがてすっかりひな祭りにも飽きてしまった。でもとにかく描くしかない。お前はもう描いているんだ。

Kameido Art Center is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Katsuaki Shigeno, Shall I Turn You into a Hina Doll Too ?
Katsuaki Shigeno is an artist who has worked across a wide range of media—including painting, printmaking, and ceramics—centering his practice on figures and scenes imbued with movement. From an early age, Shigeno enjoyed drawing people and was often recognized by those around him as “good at drawing,” while his work was also frequently described as “dark.” This quality, however, stemmed less from emotional darkness than from an early interest in elements such as shadow, volume, and perspective.
During his preparatory school years for art university entrance exams, Shigeno deepened his interest in printmaking. After enrolling at Tokyo University of the Arts, he increasingly shifted his focus from brushwork and color toward “line” and “structure,” developing his expression primarily through printmaking. As his career has progressed, his practice has expanded to encompass oil painting, watercolor, copperplate printmaking, and ceramics. Across these media, his work consistently begins with the simple act of moving his hands. The figures that appear in his works are not portraits of specific individuals; rather, they are ambiguous beings shaped by memory and imagination. The subtle discrepancies and unease that arise from drawing seriously are left intact on the surface, resulting in expressions that carry a distinctive sense of humor and comicality.
The exhibition Shall I Turn You into a Hina Doll Too ? takes as its loose outline the Japanese seasonal event of Hina Matsuri—an occasion that the artist cannot help but be conscious of, as his birthday falls on March 4, the day following the festival, and the exhibition period coincides with this time of year. In the main visual, an oil painting depicting a tiered hina-dan display features figures that have appeared throughout Shigeno’s past works, arranged like hina dolls. While these figures refer to specific individuals, they also function as indeterminate presences onto which viewers can project themselves.
As the title suggests, the exhibition draws viewers into Shigeno’s world, inviting them to join the scene as “one of the hina dolls.” Through a diverse body of work—including oil paintings, prints, and ceramic pieces—this exhibition offers an immersive encounter with Katsuaki Shigeno’s unique universe, where brightness and shadow, seriousness and humor, intersect.
Artist Statement
In late autumn of 2025, I visited Iwatsuki City in Saitama Prefecture. A local doll museum happened to catch my eye, and when I stepped inside, I was confronted with an astonishing number of hina dolls—ranging from archaic pieces dating back to the Muromachi period to contemporary examples. That’s right: this was a town of dolls. With Hinamatsuri approaching, it suddenly struck me—March 4, the day after Hinamatsuri, is my birthday! I decided that the theme of my exhibition in Kameido would be Hinamatsuri.
I sketched hina dolls with single-minded intensity. Before long, I had grown completely tired of Hinamatsuri. But still, I had no choice but to keep drawing. You are already drawing.

Katsuaki Shigeno
Works from his studio in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Primarily active as a printmaker. His works take the form of fictional, I-novel–like narratives. He is an artist who presents groups of paintings that connect imagined pasts and futures—his own or those seen by others—like a game of association. Depending on the theme, both scale and technique vary widely. He skillfully employs printmaking, oil painting, ink painting, watercolor, and ceramics. Occasionally, he goes out to sketch from life, simply to reassure himself that he is, in fact, a painter.

岩田駿一は1990年静岡県生まれ。2015年武蔵野美術大学油絵科版画専攻卒業、18年東京藝術大学大学院油画科版画専攻修了。版画の技法を用いたTシャツをはじめ、フェルティング、立体作品など多彩な表現方法で制作する。主な個展に「暮らしを する」（artcenter NAZUKARI WAREHOUSE、千葉、2025）、「路上をあつめて」（和田画廊、東京、2026）など。

Shunichi Iwata was born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1990. He graduated from the Printmaking Course of the Oil Painting Department at Musashino Art University in 2015, and completed the Printmaking Course of the Oil Painting Department at the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts in 2018. Using printmaking techniques, he creates a wide range of works, including T-shirts, felting pieces, and three-dimensional artworks. His major solo exhibitions include Living a Life (artcenter NAZUKARI WAREHOUSE, Chiba, 2025) and Collecting the Street (Wada Gallery, Tokyo, 2026).
