亀戸アートセンターでは、画家・多田さやかによる個展「Saturn」を開催します。本展は、作家にとって約2年ぶりとなる亀戸アートセンターでの展覧会です。
多田の作品には、彼女自身の感覚に基づく“重力”や“歪み”が漂っています。複数の視点が一枚の絵の中で共存し、形は整っているようでどこか不安定な、そのわずかな違和感が、画面全体に緊張を生み出します。
そうした感覚の背景には、「対称性」への興味があります。きっかけは、猫の体の模様を見たときに感じた“怖さ”でした。そこから、動物や人の身体がもつ対称構造に関心を持つようになったといいます。多田はその後、宗教画のような厳密で客観的な対称性ではなく、自分の感覚や記憶に基づいた私的なモチーフで構成されたシンメトリーを描いていることに気づきました。描かれるモチーフは作家にとって象徴的でありながら、見る人にとっては意味が定まらない、その曖昧な関係性が、作品に独特の引力と揺らぎをもたらしています。
タイトルの「Saturn（土星）」は、制作の途中でふと浮かんだ言葉だといいます。その響きには、遠くでゆらめく引力のようなイメージが重なります。
平面と半立体の両方を行き来しながら描かれる作品は、形と感覚、私観と客観が交差する場所を探るように存在しています。

・作家コンセプト
制作中のある日、ふとSaturnという単語が頭をよぎった。異星の気配はすでに絵に現れていた。本来の意味合いではないけれど、「サターン」の響きは悪魔をも想起させる。
そういう絵にしたいと思った。違和感のある重力と、妖しさの中に身体が勝手に惹き込まれていくような。
展覧会では本作に加え、頭蓋骨と花とを描いた《空即是色》、また《ゆく川の流れは絶えずして》などのシリーズ作品、他を出品する。
Kameido Art Center is pleased to present “Saturn,” a solo exhibition by painter Sayaka Tada. This marks the artist’s first exhibition at Kameido Art Center in approximately two years.
Tada’s works are imbued with a sense of “gravity” and “distortion” rooted in her own perceptions. Within a single picture, multiple viewpoints coexist; the forms appear orderly yet somehow unstable. This slight sense of dissonance generates a quiet tension that fills the entire surface.
Behind this sensibility lies Tada’s interest in symmetry. The starting point was a feeling of “fear” she experienced when observing the symmetrical pattern on her cat’s body. From there, she became fascinated by the symmetrical structures found in animals and the human body.
Later, she realized that what she was depicting was not the strict, objective symmetry of religious paintings, but rather a personal kind of symmetry constructed from her own sensations and memories. The motifs she paints are symbolic to the artist herself, yet their meanings remain indeterminate for the viewer. This ambiguity creates a unique sense of gravity and fluctuation within her work.
The title “Saturn” came to her spontaneously during the creative process. Its sound, she says, evoked an image of a distant, shimmering gravitational pull.
Moving fluidly between two-dimensional and semi-relief forms, Tada’s works seem to inhabit a space where form and feeling, the subjective and the objective, quietly intersect.

Artist’s Concept
One day during the creation process, the word Saturn suddenly crossed my mind. The presence of something extraterrestrial had already begun to appear in the painting. Although it wasn’t the original meaning, the sound of “Saturn” also evoked the image of a demon.
I wanted to make it that kind of painting — one with a sense of distorted gravity, where the body is irresistibly drawn into its bewitching atmosphere.
In this exhibition, along with this work, I will present Kusokuzeshiki(depicting a skull and flowers), the series The Flow of the River Never Ceases, and other pieces.

【作家プロフィール】
多田さやか
理想郷をテーマとした絵画を制作している。
1986年山形県生まれ。2015年 東北芸術工科大学大学院 芸術文化専攻日本画領域 修了。また同年より1年間、東京藝術大学大学院 美術研究科絵画専攻油画技法・材料研究室にて研究生として学ぶ。
現在は東京都を拠点に活動中。

Sayaka Tada
Sayaka Tada creates paintings based on the theme of utopia.
Born in 1986 in Yamagata Prefecture, she completed her Master’s degree in Japanese Painting at Tohoku University of Art & Design in 2015. In the same year, she studied for one year as a research student in the Oil Painting Techniques and Materials Laboratory at Tokyo University of the Arts.
She is currently based in Tokyo.
